The stock plastic motor connector retainer lock ring is notorious for breaking resulting in the motor cable having a poor connection or becoming unplugged. This can be the cause of various issues such as; frying your controller, frying your motor, etc. Needless to say, nobody needs that sketchy S#@%!! 

Replace it with one of these metal lock rings and make sure you have a secure connection!!
